loading a lowered truck onto trailer question

Ive been dead set on lowering my truck 5/7, but something just crossed my mind. Loading it on a trailer. I plan on taking it to shows as far as Florida. So the question is, how do you guys go about loading ur lowered rigs onto a ordinary car trailer?

Bearcat91 10-28-2012 08:20 AM

long 2x4 or something else to extend the ramp to make it shallower

slammed83mazda 10-28-2012 09:35 AM

Put a 4x4 posts or something big under the trailer jack to try to get it as high as you can. Depending on how big of a dove tail the trailer has, if it has one at all.

So lifting the front or lengthening the ramps would be the only way. Never really thought about lifting the front of the trailer. Ramps crossed my mined but wood ramps wouldn't stand a chance. Maybe backing up to a curb or driveway, giving the ramps a little lift.

or back trailer up to a hill always works well

rj2 10-28-2012 02:02 PM

Thats what id do. Find a hill that works and you will damn near be able to drive straight on with no incline whatsoever

Dubmission82 10-28-2012 03:14 PM

Don't put it on a trailer... Just drive it, enjoy it :)

Im gunna have to search for a hill around town. Lol or make some long ass ramps. But to make ramps thatll be strong enough to not bend, and thatll make them way heavy.

Id love to. But 4.56 gears and drag racing it with the thought of something going wrong 1000 miles away from the house makes me have to tow it.

slammed83mazda 10-28-2012 09:49 PM

How low is it? and does the trailer have a dove tail?

2doorfury 10-28-2012 11:14 PM

My truck will be lowered 5/7. And the trailer isnt dove tailed.

Like i said, jack the front of it up as far as you can. I'd take some long ramps/wood just in case.

being a rcsb helps too so you have one advantage. The xtra 2 ft of an ex cab can get ya in trouble sometimes

That's my opinion. Why build it if you don't feel safe driving it as far as you want to drive.

Because when the trucks 29 years old and parts are hard as hell to find. Its a bit different lol.

Professorkaos 01-23-2013 08:44 PM

That's just part of the fun lol

Professorkaos 01-25-2013 09:14 PM

That is a very good point.

But I will add I am trying to get my truck to the point of not having to haul it except to maybe camp n drag. With how my bed is setup on the mazda, its impossible to take everything we want in it lol. God I can't wait for that damn show.

Re: loading a lowered truck onto trailer question

Me too...open beds look good and u need an open bed to show off that backhalf....but the loss of space is a downside fo sure

I know that feeling, this will be my first year taking my std cab to shows and am not looking forward to cramming everything into it.

jay98neon 01-28-2013 05:04 PM

I have no bed floor at all and We are going to set up one of the racks that go on the back of a car like Spencer with the sunfire so we can haul more when we do drive it
